Housing Societies

Declared illegal

The Capital Development Authority   (CDA)   on Saturday issued a list of illegal housing societies and asked the people not to make any deal with these societies.

According to rules, the housing schemes are to be launched in the federal capital in accordance with the Islamabad Capital Territory (Zoning) Regulation, 1992, and the Modalities and Procedures framed. A number of formalities are required to be met by the sponsors before they are allowed to formally launch the scheme and advertise it.

The Authority also said a number of societies outside the ICT were   misrepresenting   and exploiting the name of the CDA or Islamabad for operation of their   schemes. The   CDA informed the public that the Islamabad Capital Territory ended at sectors of 17 series and beyond that, the area fell in the jurisdiction of the provincial government.

In total, 41 housing societies are working in total violation of rules. The CDA said as many as 18 societies though registered under the Cooperative Societies Act, 1925, had not yet submitted any such scheme to the authority.

Commerce Employees Cooperative Housing Society;

OGDC Officers Cooperative Housing Society;

T&T Employees Cooperative Housing Society;

Islamabad Farming Cooperative Society;

National Assembly Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society,
